What to Expect?
What are the Services like?
All of our services are from the Book of Common Prayer (BCP). A BCP is made available to you in the pew where you sit. A bulletin is provided that helps guide you to the different page numbers as we go through the service.
If you have never been to an Episcopal service it can be confusing at first. There is a lot of sitting and standing at different points, but if you follow the lead of the people close to you, you will catch on quickly. The pastor also gives direction by saying page numbers and asking the congregation to stand.
The service has two main parts: the liturgy of the Word and the liturgy of the table. In the liturgy of the word, you will hear readings from Scripture, participate in prayers, and listen to a sermon. In the liturgy of the table, you will join in the celebration of the Eucharist. Eucharist means to give thanks. The Eucharist is our act as a community of giving thanks to God for all that he has done for us in Jesus. The Eucharist is often called communion because it is when we share bread and wine together as Jesus commanded us to do.
Who can take communion?
Any Christian baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who is in good standing with their local church can receive communion. If you do not wish to receive communion you can cross your arms at the altar rail and receive a blessing.
What should I wear?
You should wear whatever you are comfortable in! There is no dress code. People wear anything from shorts and a t-shirt to more formal clothing. In general, most people wear what could be described as business casual. However, it’s Florida, so lots of people wear shorts.

Fr. Wes, wife Laura and children Emma, Tucker and Cody invite you to make St. Augustine's your church home. From Sunday worship to weekday meditation groups, you will find a warm connection with fellow parishioners looking to love God and their neighbor, deepen their faith and serve the local community.
